The City Of Festivals Biggies
Summerfest
Let’s start with the granddaddy of them all, Summerfest. This is the world’s largest music festival that runs for consecutive weekends in late June and early July. With over 800 acts on 11 stages, this festival offers a wide variety of music genres to satisfy every taste. Whether you are into rock, pop, country, hip-hop, or electronic music, Summerfest has got you covered. You can also sample delicious food from over 45 vendors or browse through arts and crafts from local artisans. Pack your patience with this one. It’s usually very crowded, but on the flip-side, that makes for some fun people watching. Located at the Henry Maier Festival Park along Lake Michigan.

Milwaukee Irish Fest
Next up, we have the Milwaukee Irish Fest, which takes place every third weekend in August. If you’re a fan of Irish music, dance, and culture, then this is the festival for you. Actually, since taking an actual trip to Ireland, I’m convinced that there’s a little Irish in all of us. So why not celebrate it! You can catch performances by world-renowned musicians, watch traditional Irish dance shows, and even learn some dance moves yourself. You can also enjoy authentic Irish food and drinks, shop for Celtic gifts and clothing, and explore exhibits that showcase Ireland’s rich history and heritage. Let’s raise a glass if Guinness to this festival. Located at the Henry Maier Festival Park.

Bastille Days
Ooo la la, my favorite festival of all Oui!

For those who love all things French, Bastille Days is a must-see festival. Named one of nine best places in the world to celebrate Bastille Day by National Geographic, this four-day event takes place in mid-July and celebrates French culture and heritage. You can indulge in French cuisine like crepes, croissants, and wine, listen to live music by French musicians, and watch street performers like mimes and jugglers. You can also take part in a 5k run/walk or watch a French-themed parade. My favorite thing? Gazing up at the replica Eiffel Tower and pretending I am really in Pareeee! Come celebrate Bastille Days 40th anniversary this year. Located at Cathedral Square Park

German Fest
Nothing screams the culture of Milwaukee more than German beer, bratwurst, and polka. And German Fest is the place to be. Given that Milwaukee and much of Wisconsin has deep German roots, this festival is pretty popular. This festival takes place in late July and celebrates German culture and traditions. You can enjoy authentic German food ( do not…I repeat, do not skip getting a German Pretzel) and beer, watch traditional dances and music performances, and take part in games and contests like the Stein Hoist and the Schnitzel Eating Competition. You can also learn about German history and heritage by visiting exhibits and displays. Located at the Henry Maier Festival Park.
July 28-30 2023
Mexican Fiesta
For those who love Mexican food and culture, Mexican Fiesta is a festival not to be missed. This three-day event takes place in late August and celebrates the vibrant culture of Mexico. You can enjoy authentic Mexican food like tacos, burritos, and tamales, watch traditional dances like the mariachi and folkloric dances, and listen to live music by Mexican and Latin American performers. You can also shop for Mexican crafts and souvenirs, and learn about Mexican history and traditions. At the Henry Maier Festival Park.

Milwaukee Air & Water Show
If you’re looking for something different, check out the Milwaukee Air & Water Show, which takes place in mid-July. This show features high-flying aerobatic performances by military and civilian aircraft, as well as thrilling water stunts by boats and jet skis. You can watch the show at Bradford Beach for free, or reserve seats at McKinley Beach. Keep watching the website for event and performance details.

Apart from the festivals, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy in Milwaukee during the summer months. The city has a beautiful lakefront where you can walk, run, bike, or just relax and enjoy the view of Lake Michigan. There are also plenty of parks and outdoor spaces where you can have a picnic, play sports, or go hiking. If you’re a fan of beer, Milwaukee is known for its craft breweries, and you can take a brewery tour or sample some local brews at one of the many beer gardens.
